Simon video taped real arrests and analysed them for
leadership skills using things like the percentage of
time the team leader was hands off. The results showed
there was no advantage in holding current ALS
certificate or seniority for that matter. The second
phase of the research was to introduce specific
leadership skill teaching into the courses and monitor
the outcome.
I've sat in on some video analysis and you see
interesting things like emergent leadership where the
team leader is ineffective and one of the team members
takes over as leader.
Cheers Fred.
