Background
----------
Following on from the successful LCCWS meeting held FNAL in May of 2001,
we are pleased to invite you to a follow-up meeting this October. This
time we propose two themes --
- technology review since the last meeting
- what are the issues about running a fabric within a grid
Once again, we will be targetting large sites with practical experience of
operating large clusters drawing heavily, but not exclusively, from the
High Energy Physics community. This time however we will also include sites
where testbeds of the various Grid projects are being implemented and
whose experiences are certain to be relevent.
And, as last time, as well as a few invited plenary talks, we will be
relying on you to offer talks on either of the topics cited.
Regarding the scheduling of this meeting, we note that there will be a
GGF (Grid Global Forum) meeting the week before in nearby Chicago. And we
are deliberately scheduling the meeting alongside the bi-annual
HEPiX-HEPNT meeting also in Fermilab. We will take care to minimise
schedule clashes but attendees of our workshop will be very welcome to
attend HEPiX-HEPNT later in the week and, vice-versa, we shall open access
to our meeting to those HEPiX-HEPNT who might be interested.
The format of the meeting with regards to plenaries and possible parallel
sessions is not yet decided and anyway it depends on offers of talks. But
we will aim to start promptly on the Monday morning and finish on the
Tuesday evening.
A formal invitation to register and to submit talks will be sent probably
in mid to late August along with the usual details of access to the site,
hotel accomodation, etc. But we would be grateful in the meantime if you
could inform us informally if you expect to attend or be represented by a
colleague and if you or your representative would be interested to prepare
a paper. Please reply to this mail with your answer or any other
suggestion.
