Hi,
Sys admin type question.
The globus-url-copy hanging problems have been tracked down to be tcp
related. In very short summary, the client works from RH6.2 but often
fails from Rh7.3(and 7.x) when connecting to a busy machine.(globus bug
256 for more info, and
http://bugzilla.globus.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=324)
I noticed some differences in the tcp configuration 6.2 -> 7.3, e.g.
net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries 10 -> 5
net.ipv4.tcp_retries1 7 -> 3
I want to try changing these. What do I have to do/restart, eg.
just
/sbin/sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries=10
or that and
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart
or reboot?
Cheers,
Rod.
