City Merchants and the Arts: An Intimate Peek at City Taste after the Great
Fire
A one-day conference, Guildhall Art Gallery, Guildhall Yard, London EC2P
2EJ, Friday 1 Nocvember 2002, 10:30 am - 4:00 pm
Research into the City of London's mysterious Painted Room revealed that
the contribution of 17th-century City merchants to the history of art has
been sadly overlooked. The conference aims to bring together what is known
or currently being researched about the engrossing and yet little-studied
theme of 'City Merchants and the Arts'.
