Assistant Project Officer - Forest of Dean Archaeological Survey (Scale 4
£13,764 - £15,342 Pay award pending).
We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Project Officer to assist with the
development of the outreach programme of Forest of Dean Archaeological
Survey. The successful candidate will work with local archaeological groups
and the wider community to publicise the project and to help develop greater
community participation. They will also take part in Stage 1 of the survey
programme of the project, undertaking desk-based research and inputting data
into the County SMR and GIS. The vacancy is for 1 year although it is hoped
that further work will be available at the end of this period.
Applicants should possess a degree (or similar) in Archaeology, or a related
subject, have at least two years professional experience, and possess a full
driving licence. Experience of data collection from text and map sources,
and familiarity with computer data management systems (e.g. SMRs) and GIS
mapping is also necessary. Good inter-personal skills and a strong interest
in promoting archaeology through community-based projects
will be essential.
