Dear eye tracking researchers,
Would you be interested in attending a 1-day workshop to discuss the
design, implementation, and usage of software that researchers have
developed for collecting and analyzing eye tracking data?
If there is enough interest, I will pursue holding such a workshop in
conjunction with a conference.
I am motivated to do this because many researchers have developed eye
tracking software specific to their own needs and purposes, and it
would seem that some collaboration would be useful.
For example, my research group has developed such software, which be
downloaded at http://www.cs.uoregon.edu/research/cm-hci/VizFix.
Though customization of software will continue to be necessary, such
as for the particular eye tracker being used, it is likely that a
number of researchers are also duplicating their efforts.
The goals of the workshop would be (1) to learn about the eye
tracking software that other researchers have developed by demoing
software and explaining how it works, (2) to share systems,
components, and design ideas, and (3) to initiate open source
development of eye tracking software.
I am particularly interested in software for eye tracking experiments
and post hoc data analysis, but could also expand the topic to
include software for using the eye tracker as an active or passive
input device to the computer.
If you would be interested in attending such a workshop, please email
me directly -- not to the entire email list -- and let me know which
of the conferences below you will likely attend in 2003.
Also, please feel free to email me any other comments on this topic.
Best wishes,
