The use of lang="" in XHTML is OK for XHTML 1.0 but the the use of both
lang="" and xml:lang="" is recomended for backwards compatability:
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/#C_7
For XHTML 1.1 only xml:lang="" should be used:
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/changes.html#a_changes
For HTML 4.01 and older versions only lang="" should be used.
I think this should be mentioned in the document since the lang=""
attribute is used in examples..
