---------------------------------
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of
research assistant to work on a project sponsored by the Leverhulme Trust.
The project involves the synthesis of a range of photoactive lanthanide
complexes based on a novel macrocyclic ligand system. Complexes will be
investigated in cellular environments for imaging and therapeutic potential.
The successful candidate will join an energetic and successful research
group with state of the art facilities for synthesis and photobiology. It
is expected that the candidate will hold, or will shortly receive, a PhD in
synthetic organic chemistry. Experience of coordination chemistry and the
handling of photoactive compounds would be an advantage. A basic knowledge
of cell biology and / or photobiology would also be useful.
