A big RDF use of the DCMI Type URIs will probably be in schema, e.g.
expanding the definition of RSS Image class to state that it is a DCMI Type
Image:
<rdfs:Class rdf:about="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/image"
rdfs:label="Image"
rdfs:comment="An RSS image.">
<rdfs:isDefinedBy rdf:resource="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/" />
</rdfs:Class>
Would mean that the RSS:
<image rdf:about="http://www.example.net/ex.png">
<url>http://www.example.net/ex.png</url>
<text>example</text>
<link>http://www.example.net/</link>
</image>
Would be equivalent to:
<dctype:Image rdf:about="http://www.example.net/ex.png">
<!-- more stuff elided -->
</dctype:Image>
And hence of use to something that understood the dcmi types, but not rss.
