PhD Studentship on the EPSRC project JiT-Pie: Just-in-Time Personalisation
of Internet and e-content
(Ref: MIS01)

The multimedia research group in the Department of Information Systems and
Computing at Brunel University invites applications from suitably qualified
candidates for a PhD studentship on the EPSRC-funded project JiT-Pie:
Just-in-Time Personalisation of Internet and e-content. The project aims at
the just-in-time development of a personal Internet in which both e-content
and navigation, as well as the user interface are adapted according to the
individual user's information and navigation requirements. The research
undertaken with this project is funded by the EPSRC and is an integral part
of the research activities on Multimedia Content Modelling and
Personalisation of the Department's Multimedia Research Group which is led
by Professor Marios Angelides (http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~csstmca/). The
group's work has led not only to novel research results but also to
effective implementation of applications, which have been successfully used
in various practical settings. This project will provide an excellent
opportunity for the prospective PhD candidate to develop further their
skills by working in a research-rich and internationally acclaimed
multimedia environment.

APPLICATION DETAILS

Applications are invited from UK/EU citizens who have a First or Upper
Second Class Honours Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics, or Computer
Engineering. An MSc in any one of the same areas will be considered an
advantage. Proven programming experience in Intelligent Systems and
familiarity with mathematical modelling would clearly be an asset. For
informal enquiries please contact either Dr George Magoulas (e-mail:
