The RESULTs Network learning technology portal: a workshop of
exploration, contribution and debate
A FREE half-day workshop from ALT
This is a post-conference event open to all
Venue: University of Sunderland
Date: 11 September 2002
Times: 1300 - 1630
Booking deadline: 28 AUGUST 2002
COST: FREE
OVERVIEW
RESULTs is a national web portal for learning technologists in
higher education. The "RESULTs Network" is the portal and its
wider community of users. The workshop will provide participants
with an opportunity to explore the portal.
RESULTs includes resources contributed by those supporting,
developing and using learning technologies. It provides a range of
online facilities to support practice, share experiences and
exchange and review materials.
The portal is at a final stage of development: registrations are
growing and the site is being populated with an increasing number
and diversity of resources. The workshop will offer a hands-on
component for participants to experience contributing resources,
adding links and taking part in discussions.
A final discussion session will allow participants to discuss aspects
of professional practice in supporting or using learning technologies,
including access to good quality resources and networking with
others.
Feedback gathered will be crucial to the future design, functionality
and further user participation in preparation for a wider learning and
teaching portal being developed through the LTSN and the JISC.
TOPICS TO BE COVERED
Participants will explore the portal's resources, contribute materials
and join the growing number of registered users. Hands-on sessions
will demonstrate how to use the site and contribute resources and
discussions.
Participants are encouraged to bring along details of resources they
hold locally that they would wish to share with fellow users of
learning technologies: case studies, technology tools, guidelines,
workshop materials, briefing papers, interactive content, practitioner
articles. Resource information you will need to provide: Title of
resource, web address (URL), author(s), description, type of
resource, origin (organisation, project, programme) and copyright
requirements.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
At the end of the workshop, participants will
* be familiar with the RESULTs portal
* have registered with a basic profile
* be able to navigate, search, find help and guidance, browse,
submit and move resources in the category tree
* know how to find others with common interests and participate in
discussion forums.
