I work full-time as a professional geek, yet there are times when
I am using my little workpad z50 with outlook express, and it
chokes on non-standard email. The problem is that the vast
majority of people using html mail don't or won't learn how to
disable it, for a variety of reasons.
You may notice that Yahoo pushes people to use html with its
email lists, primarily so they can send you flashier advertising.
I can't think of anything that is lost by sending text-only
messages, at least in this setting, where your content is
broadcast to thousands of people.
