NORTHAMPTONSHIRE BLACK HISTORY PROJECT
Archivist: c.£20K (pay award pending) + Superannuation
Oral History Officer: c.£20K (as above) + Superannuation
EXCITING OPPORTUNITY ON INNOVATIVE HISTORY PROJECT
Both posts will work with the Director and the County’s communities to
deliver the Northamptonshire Black History Project (NBHP). The Project
involves (1) collecting and preserving the archives of Black community
organisations in the County (2) oral history work with elders and young
people (3) original research into the history of the Black communities in
Northamptonshire over the past 500 years.
Criteria
Applicants to both posts need to possess:
- excellent written and interpersonal skills
- experience of working with community groups
- experience of managing staff/ volunteers and budgets
In addition, applicants to:
- the Archivist post require excellent knowledge, understanding & experience
of Archives/ Record Offices
- the Oral History Officer post require demonstrable experience of oral
history interviewing and practical aptitude for using recording equipment
The project is based in Northampton but has a countywide remit.
