Those of you who have been following the proposed reform of planning in
England might be interested in reading the Government's announcement today
of their plans for taking this forward. This is summarised in a document
"Sustainable Communities - Delivering through Planning", which can be found
online at:
http://www.planning.odpm.gov.uk/consult/greenpap/scdtp/index.htm
For a quicker checklist of exactly which reforms proposed earlier in the
year in the Planning Green Paper are being taken forward, and which are not
(e.g. parliamentary decision making on major infrastructure projects is out,
but abolition of County Structure Plans, creation of Business Planning Zones
and reform of Planning Policy Guidance are in) see the press release at:
http://www.odpm.gov.uk/news/0207/0039.htm
And those of you with an entirely unhealthy level of interest in all of this
there are two further documents:
"Making The System Work Better - Planning At Regional And Local Levels":
http://www.planning.odpm.gov.uk/consult/greenpap/makebett/index.htm
The Deputy Prime Minister's speech in full -
