CALL FOR PAPERS
Second International Conference on
Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization (EMO 2003)
April 8-11, 2003 (Tuesday to Friday)
Universidade do Algarve, Portugal

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Centre for Intelligent Systems is proud to invite you to the Second
International Conference on Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization (EMO
2003), which will be held at the University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal, from
8 to 11 April, 2003.
Following the very successful EMO 2001 conference, which was held in Zurich,
Switzerland, in March 2001, this will be the second international conference
dedicated entirely to this important topic. The conference proceedings will
be published by Springer as a volume of the Lecture Notes in Computer
Science series, and will be available at the time of the Conference.
EMO 2003 will include the following types of sessions:
* Two Keynote Lectures and three Tutorial Sessions, to be delivered by
leading experts in the fields of Multi-Criterion Decision Making and
Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization (see below)
* Regular Oral Sessions
* Interactive Poster Sessions
EMO 2003 will be co-located with the IFAC International Conference on
Intelligent Control Systems and Signal Processing (ICONS 2003). Both
Conferences will share a splendid social programme, and registered
participants for EMO 2003 are invited to attend the plenary lectures of
ICONS 2003. Participants can register for EMO 2003 or, for a small
additional fee, for both Conferences. In the latter case, participants are
welcome for all Sessions of both Conferences, and will receive a copy of the
ICONS 2003 proceedings.
Additional information is available on the web on:
EMO 2003 - http://conferences.ptrede.com/emo03/
ICONS 2003 - http://conferences.ptrede.com/icons03/
EMO 2003 has the support of EvoNet - The European Network of Excellence in
Evolutionary Computing - http://evonet.dcs.napier.ac.uk/
SCOPE
The EMO 2003 conference will be a forum for the exchange of recent research
and application results in areas related to Evolutionary Multi-Criterion
Optimization, including, but not limited to, the following topics:
* Development of new EMO algorithms (using GAs, ES, EP, GP and others)
* Multiple objective and constraint handling in EMO
* Integration of EMO and Multi-Criterion Decision Making techniques
* Elitism in EMO algorithms
* Diversity preservation techniques
* Search operators for EMO
* Parallel EMO algorithms
* Theoretical analysis of EMO algorithms
* Test problem development for EMO
* Performance characterization of multiobjective optimizers
* Experimental comparison of different EMO techniques
* Comparison of EMO techniques with other multi-criterion optimization
methods
* Real-world applications of EMO

SUBMISSION
Authors are invited to submit original, full-length papers (maximum 15
pages) in PDF format. The EMO 2003 proceedings will be published within the
LNCS series (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) by Springer Verlag. Hence,
all papers must comply with the LNCS style. Full formatting details and
templates are available from the LNCS Web page for authors
(http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html). Please follow the
guidelines for proceedings and other multi-author volumes.
EMO 2003 submissions are to be made electronically in PDF format, as the
LNCS volumes are published in full-text electronic version as well as in
print. Submission forms are available now on the EMO 2003 web site.
Please note the submission deadlines and the Springer LNCS Copyright policy
(http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/copyrigh.html).

Authors of the best papers presented at EMO 2003 will be encouraged to
submit substantially extended work to a forthcoming special issue on
Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization of the Journal of Multi-Criteria
Decision Analysis.
