NEW RESEARCHERS IN FAMILIES AND RELATIONSHIPS
Inaugural one-day conference
17th September 2002 (at The University of Edinburgh)
Scope
The Centre for Research on Families and Relationships at the
University of Edinburgh (CRFR: www.crfr.ac.uk) is convening a one-
day conference for new researchers with an interest in families
and relationships. The meeting will provide an opportunity to
discuss research issues and to present findings in a supportive
environment. It will consist of presentations by new researchers
in the morning and a workshop on research methods and
discussion of either a theoretical paper or government policy in
the afternoon. This is a multi-disciplinary and cross sector event.
Who are ‘New Researchers’?
The meeting is aimed at new researchers from the academic
sector (Ph.D. students, other postgraduate students,
researchers/lecturers within five years of completing their Ph.D.
and academics returning to research) and outside the academic
sector (the voluntary sector, Local Government, National
Government and the private sector).

Call for Papers
Abstracts of up to 250 words should be submitted by July 31st (e-
mail to [log in to unmask]) from New Researchers who wish to present
a conference paper. Presenters should indicate whether they
would prefer to present a ‘standard’ presentation (30 minutes,
based on research findings) or a ‘short’ presentation (15 minutes,
based on a specific research issue and/or research-in-progress).

Costs
Registration fee covers the cost of the Conference Pack, buffet
lunch and light refreshments. £20 for registration before August
15th, £25 for registrations on or after this date.
