Well, I can not keep from commenting. I bought the book, read a number of
the chapters and skimmed the rest. Most (but not all) of the authors are
bound by a functional definition of disability which makes them use the
ICIDH/ICF or at least praise it. I could find no author who condemned it
although some did by implication. It is my long standing contention that a
functional definition of disability is based on the medical model and both
play right into eugenics. I doubt that my argument is new to the members
of this list. Perhaps what I see as the tacit acceptance of the functional
definition of disability is what others see as the medical model....David
