Peter
I would defy the notion that one can write a "short piece" when those
Continents and the Arab States (all Continents except Australia that is - if
you prick us do we not bleed?) comprise squillions of culturally
differentiated societies with probably just as many constructions of the
meaning of disability and thus views of disabled people.

Subject: How disabled people are viewed
Dear all
I have to write a short piece on how different cultures and societies view
disabled people around the world. That is:
a.. Africa
b.. The Americas
c.. Arab States
d.. Asia
e.. Europe.
Not much left is there?
Is there something out there that would get me started?
Thanks
Best wishes
