Hi,
I've been a bit of a lurker on this list as I have been trying to familiarise myself with issues that are of importance to other people working in the field of disability studies. I am very excited to be chairing a panel (or possibly panels, depending on response) on disability studies at the Mid-
Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association Conference to be held in Pittsburgh, PA from November 1-3, 2002. I would love to see abstracts, or complete conference papers (about 10 pages--each paper will be given twenty minutes) from members on this list. The floor is wide open--papers can address issues about disability studies as a field, look at questions concerning the lived experience of disability, or perhaps representations in the media/film/tv/literature of disability. Other suggestions are more than welcome. If you yourself cannot participate, please pass this call for papers on to others who might be interested. Unfortunately, deadlines are looming close and I need to hear back ASAP--I should, however, be able to consider submissions up until August 20th. Thank-you very much for your time, and I hope to hear from you,
Holly Crumpton
