Hi
Can I remind everyone that if you have a technical question about the list
server or subscription settings, please can you mail me or the JISCmail
helpline rather than the list.
To answer some recent queries:
1. If you choose the 'reply to all' option in your mailer, your reply will
go to the list as well as the original sender. The default settings point to
the sender as a result of previous consultations with list membership and as
a result of some unfortunate past errors, when some people accidentally sent
private replies to the whole list rather than the sender!
2. I understand that JISCmail have had a few problems with their server
upgrades and I presume this will settle down soon. It is unfortunately
outside my control (I checked this morning and it was working then, be
patient).
3. Please can people try to use an appropriate subject header when sending
to the list. It makes it much easier to follow the archives.
4. Please don't quote more than you need to from the original message you
are replying to.
5. Try to avoid sending 'me too' or 'I agree' messages to the whole list
unless you want to add something.
PS. As far as I know there is no great plot, conspiracy or grand scheme to
exclude anyone from accessing or debating on the list - but of course that
doesn't mean the technology isn't out to get you ;-)
Best Wishes
