Hi John
The Follies of Globalisation Theory by Justin Rosenberg contains some
critical reflections of the efforts of a few non-geographers to get to grips
with globalisation. Gives a good kicking to Giddens - always a worthwhile
pursuit.
The novelty of the 'spatial turn' should not be overstated - some
geographers have tended to overstate the extent to which social scientists
in other disciplines have ignored or downplayed the spatial dimensions to
social constitution. A first-hand reading of Adam Smith, David Ricardo, Marx
and Max Weber, reveals these thinkers to be considerably more spatially
aware than some contemporary geographers give them credit for.

Subject: The spatial turn
Dear All,
I am currently writing a article aimed at a multi-disiplinary audience
and
would like to make a few preliminary comments about geography in the
opening
paragraph of the paper.
I have heard many references made outside of geography to 'the spatial
turn'. I wondered if anyone has seen/read any papers/ books etc. which
represent a good overview of ideas of spatiality outside of geography.
My
searches on BIDS etc. have not led to success.
Thank you for your help
Best wishes
John
