HOW TO PRACTISE EVIDENCE-BASED CHILD HEALTH

The Centre for Evidence-Based Child Health is one of a national network of
centres for evidence-based practice and is based at the Institute of Child
Health in London. It has developed a programme of short courses in
evidence-based child health on which this three day course in Castlebar,
Ireland has been based.
The course aims to help practitioners become more efficient at using the
best available evidence in their clinical and policy decisions.
The course consists of plenary seminars, small group problem-solving &
appraisal sessions and practicals on literature searching. Key features
include multi-professional learning, high tutor-student ratio and
opportunites for hands-on searching of scientific literature with tutor
support.
Who should attend?
The course is based on clinical and policy problems in child health, and is
relevant to professionals from all sectors of the health service,
particularly those whose work is related to child health eg:
paediatricians, PAMs, health visitors, nurses, general practitioners,
managers, therapists, purchasers, researchers from consumer groups.
Cost 800.00 Euros
Covers all tuition, materials, lunch, tea/coffee breaks and the course
dinner on Thursday evening at a local Castlebar restaurant. (Please note
the cost will be 740.00 Euros if you do not wish to attend the course dinner.)
