Every 12 years I think about buying another car - note not new
And when I ask other drivers what they would recommend then, surprise,
surprise, they gush with enthusiasm for their current car.
I guess you will find the same with exam boards. In case you did not know
(:)) I am a delighted user of the OCR Economics syllabus. But that is
becauase I like their style of assessment (no MCQ, good data response) ,
syllabus content (esp Development) and results (good students do well). And
the Europe synoptic paper has been a real joy to teach bringing together the
old economists toolkit to apply to a new context.
The macro paper today was again bang in the middle of fair but
discriminating. I like to see smiles on the faces of students when they
leave the exam room as they did today. They worked hard. And they have been
asked to think and do.
For colleagues taking other syllbuses, please do not read this as a slight
on your board. I have not spent hardly any tiem looking at what is on offer
because I see no need to fix something that is working so well.
So a bit like chosing a restaurnat. I like Indian (OCR) others prefer
Chinese (the whimps what is worng with Vindaloo :)
And just wait for others to now recommend the car they currently drive :)
PS In case you think I am some OCR lackey, I am less thrilled with OCR Biz,
swoon at some of the papers, but am encourage the Board is about to make
some tweaks and issue better teacher guidance. And I am even less enamoured
of the alternative board offerings. So there, I can be critical of OCR

Subject: Economics A level
We are reintroducing economics as in this coming year. Initially we were
going to use AQA as we use them for business studies however recent comments
on the list have raised the possibility of using OCR. I would be very
grateful for any comments anyone can make as to the differences between the
various boards in practice as well as syllabus.
