The following permanent vacancy has arisen within the School of Modern
Languages and is available from 1st October 2002:
Lecturer in Russian
(Ref: 6381)
Applications are invited for a lectureship in Russian. Preference will be
given to candidates offering specialist research and teaching interests in
Russian literature and culture of the nineteenth or twentieth centuries
(particularly Russian cinema). Candidates will need to have at least near
native command of written and spoken Russian, including the ability to teach
through the medium of Russian and English. It is also expected that they
will be able to contribute to language teaching at all levels. Candidates
will also be required to have proven research interests and outstanding
research potential, and to have completed or be close to completing a PhD.
The initial salary will be £22,522 p.a. (scale pt 9) rising to £29,709 p.a.
(scale pt 16) after 5 years.
The salary scale will be under review for a cost of living award from 1st
August 2002, and salary progression will be subject to satisfactory
performance.
