We are writing to invite you to the launch of IEE's new Human Factors
Engineering Professional Network to be held on Thursday, 4 July 2002 at
Savoy Place, London. There will be a keynote address by Dr Barry Kirwan,
Eurocontrol. IEE President, Professor Brian Mellitt and the Ergonomics
Society President, Magdalen Galley will also be contributing to the lecture
"Human factors and reliability - making a difference?".
Can human factors help in real practical applications, or is it just a lot
of words? The speaker will discuss the need for closer collaboration
between human factors and engineering. Actual case studies from offshore,
nuclear power, the marine industry and air traffic will be used to show the
impact of this discipline and how none of these would have been successful
without a good partnership between the human factors side and the
engineering expertise working on the project.
The evening lecture will be followed by an optional networking hot fork
buffet at a nominal charge. You can round off the evening by taking the
opportunity to meet fellow professionals and share experiences with those
with similar interests in an informal setting. To register and find out more
information go to http://www.iee.org/oncomms/pn/humanfactors/launch.cfm or
contact Event Services to be sent a registration form:
