I found your mailing list and the http://www.bris.ac.uk/ISC/portal/ web
page while looking for the terms "uportal oracle comparison" in google (you
are ranked at the first place).

It seems to me that you forgot to evaluate the Jahia CMS and Portal Server
(www.jahia.org) as a viable alternative (sorry for the marketing spam but I
consider it more as an interesting information for all the mailing list
readers).

We are now implementing this CMS/Portal for the Swiss Federal Institute of
Technology of Lausannne (www.epfl.ch - web sites + virtual campus). We are
now also evaluating how to become "Uportal compliant" and support natively
their "channels".

The idea is to integrate and package a best of all the open source CMS and
Portal frameworks into a robust and ready to use architecture. We already
integrated the Apache Lucene search engine. We plan to do so for the Struts
and Slide frameworks. If you had support for the UPortal channnels, you get
a really nice open source solution that can easily fight versus the large
players.
