Dear all,

I am posting a request for information. I am looking for any resolutions or
statements (non or inter governmental) that speak to the issue of sea turtle
longline bycatch, or possibly bycatch more generally. Indeed, they don't have
to be exclusively bycatch related - just contain some aspect thereof.

So far I have only 4 specific resolutions. These are :
1. IUCN Resolution Incidental capture of marine turtles in pelagic longline
fisheries 1998
2. Sea Turtle Symposium Resolutions, 2000 (June)
3. Resolution Supporting Protection of the Pacific Population of Leatherback
Turtles, 19 June 2000
4. Resolution of the Pacific Leatherback Survival Conference, April 2002

More general resolutions are the CMS bycatch resolution, the 1995 UNGA bycatch
resolution; and an IATTC resolution that specifically mentions turtles but
restricts its dealings to purse-seine take though the Japanese do longline
under that regime.

I know the issue of longline seaturtle bycatch was discussed at the last COFI
meeting though am not sure if it was on the floor or not, and if anything was
entered into the final report of the meeting.

Any additions to my list (in any language) would be most welcome
many thanks
Sal
