I'm currently trying to track down two units of measurement which I haven't
been able to find in either Zupko's dictionary of Italian weights &
measures, or Martini's Manuale di metrologia.
These are:
1) mara - used to measure flax in Ferrara in 1536-8
2) cavallo - used to measure wine in Rome in 1539
Has anyone come across these before, and if so, do you know what their
metric equivalents might be? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to
where I might be able to find this out?
Many thanks,
Rupert
