Recently added to the Council for British Archaeology website is a page
summarising current ongoing policy consultations. This takes the form of a
bulletin which we update from time to time and lists all the areas of policy
on which the government, the devolved assemblies and executives and various
national departments and agencies are currently seeking views. The
consultations listed are restricted to those which we believe are likely to
have implications for, or an impact upon, archaeology and historic
environment. You can find the bulletin for May here:
http://www.britarch.ac.uk/conserve/policybulletin.html
You can also find responses we've made on recent consultations on our
website at:
http://www.britarch.ac.uk/conserve/consult.html
As an illustration of the diversity of evolving government policy which
impinges on archaeology, recent submissions include comments on the Planning
Green Paper; comments on the environmental impact of growing sugar beet; and
a response to the review of the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works
of Art.
