Preliminary findings on 'mapping research on professional training and
attitudes towards disabled people'
It was written that:
"o.k. folks. since simulations seem to be another area of general interest
to folks on the list, I will definitely compile a bibliography on the topic
and send it to all and sundry. BUT be forwarned, I have found very little
thus far. Thanks to those of you who have already sent me material. If
anyone else has suggestions, perhaps pertaining to teaching *about*
disability more generally, that would be helpful as well. "
A distinct body of literature emerged from the research stream on 'mapping
research on disability and higher education' with regard to the training of
tomorrow's professionals about disability issues within a variety of
disciplinary contexts. A closely linked body of literature is the 'attitudes
toward disabled people' by students in these professional programs. In some
cases there is a substantial interface between these two bodies of research
where the effect of various forms of training such as simulation exercises,
work placements, training seminars etc. are explored.
Hope this helps.
