Hello there,
I am in the process of constructing a training package for service providers
regarding the domestic abuse of disabled women. One of the exercises within
the training involves a discussion about various language used for
disability, impairment and its effects. For example, I am going to ask
attendees to offer Appropriate / Inappropriate and 'Unsure' words for
disability, disabled persons, impairments etc.
Now, I was wondering if anyone was aware of any publications that included
disability appropriate language. The training is underpinned by the social
model so I am aware of most of the language - but no doubt will be tripped up
along the way by a word /concept ventured by one of the attendees.
Any advice would be greatly received,
Best wishes,
