--- About the EC SIG ---
The Educational Content Special Interest Group (EC SIG) is one of four
groups established by CETIS to support the UK FE/HE sectors uptake and
implementation of educational technology interoperability standards and
specifications. The EC SIG focuses on the various standards and
specifications that relate to the production, packaging, management and
delivery of interoperable educational resources. These specifications
are of particular importance as they define the process required for
the production and delivery of interoperable educational content from
designing educational tasks, producing learning objects, packaging
learning objects to produce lessons and modules, delivering these
lessons to the learner through virtual learning environments and
tracking the learners progress through these educational tasks and
activities.
The EC SIG tracks the IMS Global Learning Consortium's Content
Packaging, Simple Sequencing, Learning Design and Digital Repositories
specifications and the Advanced Distributed Learning Network's Shared
Content Object Reference Model (ADL SCORM). The EC SIG also monitors
the work of the CEN/ISSS Learning Technologies Workshop and is actively
involved in the emerging field of educational modeling languages.
Best Wishes
Lorna
