I haven't read the contract (now that I have fled the UK :) but I think
your concerns are legitimate. This is a move away from 24 hour
responsibility - or towards 'splitting the contract' - which in itself
is laudible but should not be allowed to squeeze colleagues elsewhere
I am not sure of what the mechanism is intended to be to maintain cover.
I doubt it is like the nursing situation where it has often just been
decided that there won't be 24 hour district nursing cover and so the
GPs pick up all the nursing tasks OOH
I will post your question to GP-UK where there are folk who have
digested the contract (and in the main then vomited it back!)
Cheers
