Oh dear! People see offence in every statement. There happen to be regional differences around the world to susceptibility to different illnesses or
areas where one disease is more prevalent. For example, sickle cell trait can reduce the severity of malaria, and many tribal peoples have been wiped
out by measles. How one makes the jump from that to saying certain groups should be denied a vaccine defeats me. I am sorry if anyone found it
offensive, which of course was not the intention, but these things matter and should be discussed. E-mail is a terrible medium for getting messages
across because it is not accompanied by voice or other cues of non-verbal communication. Tony, tell me what you think I meant in that message
(off list if you want) and I'll see how it measures up to what I was trying to say.
