Colleagues
My brief Notes on key points from the DataGRID PTB. Im sure John_G
will do a better job.
Test Group being set up to test/verify testbed deployment]
(slides attached)
. Separate from "experts doing the deployment"
. Demand good doc from all WPs !!!
. Three sites so far, asking for more sites to volunteer
. Some dissent in the discussion - more structure, more meetings.
=> Should the UK consider try to find a volunteer site <=
[EDG Testbed status]
(slides for Cal Loomis attached)
. Going to 1.1.4 for first widespread "production" deployment. Being
installed
on core sites now. This will be basis for production testbed.
. 1.2 is development version, not expected before end of month.
. There was a statement about understanding the need for stability. This
is good. See slides.
[Licensing]
Andy McNab gave a comprehensive description of licensing. I hereby
appoint
Andy as the GridPP Legal Officer.
...after lunch....
[LCG]
.Les Robertson gave an overview of the LCG programme.
.This was the standard presentation.
.This serves to remind that we need to clarify the following within
GridPP:
=>LCG is a production grid
=>DataGRID is not - it goes as far as demos.
=> Does this lead to a misconception of expectation from
experimental
users in the UK - i.e. is there an expectation that GridPP
is
providing a production Grid before the timescale of LCG
?????
[DataTAG/GLUE]
. you don't need a spiel on this.
. Thanks to those in UK participating in the schema convergence work
by the way.
There was then a discussion of the EU Review feedback.
[D7.5 Security Report]
. Dave Kelsey introduced the status of D7.5.
. Thanks to Steve Burke as moderator
. Going ahead as planned. Well done to Security group
[Technical Report]
. The interest in common web portals is more manifest now
Probably a "one size fits all sectors" doesn't work, but probably a
one size
fits all HEP might.
=> It is my strong prejudice that (i) this is interesting and makes
for good
demos.
(hence my banging on about this in November) and (ii) the UK
should contribute to this in a strong way (see what Andy has
already
done) Comments ?
. Proposed software release dates:
May 1.3
July 1.4
October 2.0
. Tutorials being prepared
Good
We should use these in the UK and present them regularly.
... that's all folks .......
