There's a review of David Gilmore's recent (7 March) 'The Long
Recessional: The Imperial Life of Rudyard Kipling' by Bernard Porter
in the 25 April issue of the 'London Review of Books' (pages 23-25).
Porter says:
"Kipling comes over as a deeply unsympathetic character in this
superb biography - as in most others - because of the hatreds he
nurtured throughout most of his life."
