Jane,
I wonder if the Stourbridge historian, Roy Peacock, might be able to help -
he is presenting a paper on the "Making of the Diocese" at the HA annual
Local History Conference at Birmingham University in May. He is only going
up to 1905, but he may know. I am not sure if he is on e-mail (doubt it),
but I'd be happy to pass on the message when I next see him.
