A quick update on our New Instruments for Musical Expression (NIME)
conference coming up in Dublin May 24-26, 2002. We had an excellent
response to our Call for Participation, and have selected 31 papers, 15
posters-demonstrations, and roughly a dozen performances. It promises to
be a very stimulating event, with lots of new and unusual ideas being
presented by cutting-edge research groups throughout the world. We've
posted the full program (minus the concert details, which will be
finalized shortly) on our website, at:
http://www.nime.org
and we'll be adding more information (e.g., the concert program for Friday
and Saturday evenings) over the next days.
Also, a reminder that the deadline for early registration is April 19.
Unfortunately, we're unable to take credit cards this year, but a check
can be mailed to MediaLabEurope, as detailed on the registration link at
the above webite. As hotels in Dublin can fill quickly in the spring,
you're also encouraged to book accommodation at your first opportunity;
the conference website lists several hotels. As listed on the program,
the conference begins with a reception Friday May 24 at 5:30 PM. Paper
presentations and talks conclude Sunday afternoon by 4 PM, and we're
planning an open discussion to follow about the organization of NIME2003,
to be held in Montreal, Canada.
We look forward to meeting many of you in Dublin.
