Following the successful completion of the Landmap Project, the
Manchester InforMation and Associated Services (MIMAS), The University
of Manchester, University College London, and CHEST are pleased to
announce the release of the products and services produced by The
Landmap Project and MIMAS to the Academic Community in the United
Kingdom and Ireland. CHEST Associated Sites are also entitled to
participate in this service.

The JISC funded Landmap Project is a joint project between MIMAS and
University College London  Dept. of Geomatic Engineering and other
project partners.  The project has been funded to provide orthorectified

satellite image  mosaics of Landsat, SPOT and ERS radar data and a high
resolution Digital Elevation Model for the British Isles. This data is
now  available in formats that are readily accessible to users of
Geographic Information Systems, Image Processing and Desktop publishing
software.

The data is initially available to sites, free of charge, until 31st
July 2003.  Thereafter, the service will either be terminated, or a
charge may be imposed for continued provision if no further JISC funding

is available.

CHEST is responsible for processing the licences, and all applications
for participation in this Service must be directed to CHEST.

education, further education and the academic research community with
networked access to key data and information resources to support
teaching, learning and research across a wide range of disciplines.
