Apologies for cross-posting. Fowarded from Britarch list.
Two topics for people to think about:
1. The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority are looking for examples of
good teaching in history to use as exemplars on their website, for schools
to see what can be achieved in teaching the subject. I would be very
interested to hear from anyone who has worked with a school recently and
thinks they might have a candidate that could be forwarded to QCA for
inclusion. It is important that we can get the use of archaeological
evidence more widely seen by teachers. The examples must relate to the
teaching of history. They are especially interested in examples of teaching
chronology, cause and consequence, diversity of societies and
interpretation.
2. Do let me know if you would like to be on the CBA's education mailing
list. I can let you have information about forthcoming conferences or
workshops, and I would like to set up a distribution list for a newsletter
keeping people abreast of latest developments, reports and consultations in
the world of education. If you do, let me know which area of education you
are interested in - ie 5-14, 14-19, full time higher education, part-time
continuing education.
Best wishes,
Don Henson
