Dear all,
I spoke to an MRI safety assessor who said that MRI is far safer than X-Ray and will be the only way to see any tendon damage, BUT an X-Ray will be better at spotting any fracture especially a fine one. One thing I have seen on an X-Ray of a painful lat mal is a tiny calcification in the peroneus longus tendon which was slightly displaced as it ran almost over to point of the malleolus. This needed to be surgical excised. However, it was not a trauma etiology.
On the point about tib post rupture in inversion injuries, the answer is NO NO NO. Think about the anatomy, and what it's function is.
