Rod,

 So your /etc/edg/info-mds.conf says that you are publishing
 site information on this machine.

 Now you have populated this GRIS with the site info you
 need to register that GRIS into a GIIS at which point
 that GIIS becomes your site GIIS.

To do that in your /etc/globus.conf

GRID_INFO_GRIS_REG_GIIS=icl
GRID_INFO_GRIS_REG_HOST=gm04.hep.ph.ic.ac.uk

So now you have a site GIIS and
$ ldapsearch -x -H ldap://gm04.hep.ph.ic.ac.uk:2135 -b
'Mds-vo-name=icl,o=Grid'
should do something.

The next step is to register your site giis, icl, into the uk giis so that
requires
the 3 lines.

#Register with the county GIIS
GRID_INFO_GIIS_1=icl
GRID_INFO_REG_GIIS_1=uk
GRID_INFO_REG_HOST_1=gppinfo.gridpp.rl.ac.uk

At which point
$ ldapsearch -x -H ldap://gpinfo.gridpp.rl.ac.uk:2135 -b
'Mds-vo-name=icl,Mds-vo-name=uk,o=Grid'
should do something intresting.

Rob since you are in the gridpp VO you should be able to take
a look around RALs CE which may answer some questions.

$ globus-job-run gppce05.gridpp.rl.ac.uk /bin/cat /etc/globus.conf

  Steve
