A few things to check
1. Is a gatekeeper running on your compute element?
What does the following do for you?
[root@gppce05 log]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/globus-gatekeeper status
/opt/globus/sbin/globus-gatekeeper (pid 6612) is running...
The gatekeeper is the thing that listen for jobs.
If not try starting it up
/etc/rc.d/init.d/globus-gatekeeper start
2. If it is running there should be a log file as
/var/log/globus-gatekeeper.log
which may hold some clues.
3. You also have to have an entry in /etc/grid-security/grid-mapfile
Is there anything in this file?

Subject: globus-job-run command doesn't work
Hello,
I try to run the globus-job-run command but it doesn't work. :-(
I did the following steps:
1) grid-proxy-init - that worked.
2) When I call the globus-job-run command I get the following message:
[simone@dps-1 bin]$ globus-job-run dps-1.brunel.ac.uk /bin/echo "Hello"
GRAM Job submission failed because the connection to the server failed
(check host and port) (error code 12)
What do I have to do next? Do I have to configure anything else?
Thanks
Simone
