Daniel,

We have considered the use of MSDE with some projects and have successfully used MSDE [the database mentioned] for 5-10 user systems, or driving small intranet sites.

Microsoft say that is "Optimised for 5 users", although whilst we cannot confirm this, we believe that this simply relates to the configuration parameters of SQL server when initially installed [which can be changed through the use of SP_CONFIGURE].

I would recommend that it is a good starting point for projects, since you don't need to "lash-out" on SQL Server, but if you find you need to scale up [which is generally a nice problem to have] you can probably justify purchasing the full version.

Regards

Is anyone considering the use of Microsoft's limited version of SQLServer
MSDE which is incorporated in Access2000, or have such a system running?

It would be good to hear what size systems are running on it in terms of
no.of users, size of database and weather your running other systems on the
same server such as a mail-server, admin etc. How much should we avoid
running all these apps on one machine?
