Today (13. March) is the feast day of:
Euphrasia (d. c. 410) Euphrasia was a native of Constantinople with
connections at the imperial court. After her father's death, the child
Euphrasia and her mother went to Egypt and joined an eremitical communitiy
in the Thebaid. Euphrasia died after 30 years of harsh asceticism.
Mochoemoc (Pulcherius) (d. c. 656) Mochoemoc was born in c. 580, and from
c. 597 was a monk at Bangor (Ireland) under Comgall. Later he founded the
monastery of Liath-Mochoemoc, serving as abbot until his death.
Eldrad (d. c. 840) Eldrad was born in Provence sometime in the second half
of the eighth century. He became abbot of Novalese in northern Italy in c.
826, bring the monastery to a high bloom. His cult was approved in 1702,
1821, and 1903.
Agnellus of Pisa (blessed) (d. 1232 (or 1235?)) Agnellus was one of the
most important companions of Francis of Assisi and prepared the ground for
the Franciscan order in France and England. He was born in 1194 in Pisa
and joined Francis in 1212. Francis sent him to France in 1219 and in 1223
to England--he had enormous success in both countries, winning also the
friendship of Henry III of England. He was beatified in 1892.
