Monks followed in the eastern Church. His feast is observed on 2 June
(post-Vatican II (sigh); for centuries before that in the West , June 14. In
the east, a more prominent day, Jan 1.

Is this the Basil mentioned in the RB? If so, is it a
happy coincidence that his feast is the day
(formerly)after Benedict's? If I understood correctly,
Basil is furthermore the only saint mentioned in the
Rule.
