My question was not intended to refer specifically to parishes, be they of
one sort or the other, but to any area of land that was transferred out of
one county into an adjacent one, so causing changes to the boundaries
between those counties.

But what do you mean by a parish? Ecclesiastical parishes and civil parishes
aren't always identical, certainly not these days when both civil and church
authorities have redrawn boundaries independently of each other. Obviously
they started out the same, but have developed to fill different needs.
Parish boundaries are more fluid than most people realise, in these days of
changing demographic patterns and the planting of new villages in our
countryside.
