Surely if a question is raised that members of the group feel is worth
discussing, it should be discussed, regardless of its origin. Ethan's
question as such is a perfectly proper one for a tectonics study group to
consider. The fact that we may suspect his motives in raising it doesn't
affect that. Alain's comment seems to me to be coming perilously close to
censorship of free debate (even if it is self-censorship).
