I've used projected images in eye movement research for the last
3 years. I'm not aware of any literature particular to this method
but this doesn't mean that there isn't any. A couple of issues you
might consider;
a) you have to be careful how you set up the relationship between
the projector, the screen and the participant. To set the projector
up so that it procects an image squarely to the screen with the
centre of the screen at eye height and the participant sitting
directly in front of the screen often leads to the participant's head
getting in the way of the projected image. There are probably
ways to overcome this problem but you might find (depending on
your resources) that you have to slightly skew the projector (which
will lead to a slightly skewed image) or sit the participant slighty off
to the side or below the screen.
b) an advantage of projecting an image to a screen is that you can
have the image as big or as small as you like by moving the
projecter farther away or closer to the screen. The issue here of
course is that there this can seriously effect image resolution.
Resolution is probably one of the most salient problems with this
technique but this can depend a great deal on the type and the
quality of your projector.
Hope this helps
