Faustival
University of Calgary
April 3-5, 2003
In March and April 2003, the University of Calgary's Department of Drama, in
collaboration with the Department of Germanic, Slavic & East Asian Studies,
is mounting the first Canadian production of both parts of J. W. Goethe's
Faust. This occasion will be celebrated with an international and
interdisciplinary "Faustival", an event centred on the Faust myth that will
combine a more traditional academic conference with a variety of other
presentations. We invite proposals for contributions related to any aspect of
the Faust myth (not only Goethe's version) and in any format, including but
not limited to:
* Academic papers
* Performances (e.g. music, theatre, dance, puppet theatre)
* Readings of original creative work
* Audio-visual presentations
* Art or poster exhibits
Contributions other than exhibits should be a maximum of 30 minutes in
length. Proposals should consist of a paper abstract or project description of
about 250 words and contact information. The deadline for proposals is
July 31, 2002
